Stop Dimming your light: Own your lane and beyond.

Updated: Oct 7

Stick to Your Lane? No Thanks.

We hear it all the time: "Stick to your lane." It’s advice that’s often handed out with good intentions—stay in your zone, don’t rock the boat, and play it safe. But what if that lane is too small? What if it’s not where you’re meant to be?

For too long, I’ve spent time dimming my light, shrinking myself to make others comfortable. Playing within the boundaries that were drawn for me, following the rules of "how it’s supposed to be." No more.

Entrepreneurship Isn’t About Staying Small

Entrepreneurship is about more than just staying in one lane—it’s about creating new ones. It’s about breaking free from the boxes others try to put us in and owning every part of who we are. I see it all the time—people and organisations holding themselves back because they’re afraid to break the mold.

Here’s the reality: the greatest opportunities are often found outside of the lane you’ve been told to stay in. They’re in the spaces you create for yourself when you take control of your journey.

Step Into Your Own Space

This isn’t just about business; it’s personal too. Whether you’re building a company, shaping your personal brand, or trying to level up in your career—don’t let anyone else define your lane. You’ve got the power to expand it, redraw it, or completely veer off the path others expect you to take.

Growth doesn’t happen by playing small. It happens when you challenge expectations, push boundaries, and make bold moves. You don’t have to apologize for wanting more, and you certainly don’t have to stay where you’ve been placed.

My Challenge to You

So here’s my challenge: Stop playing small. Stop limiting yourself to the lane you were given. It’s time to step into spaces you weren’t “meant” for, make them yours, and shine in every corner you find yourself in.

As we embark on this journey, we’ll be sharing more about the lanes we’re already in but don’t often highlight—areas that may surprise those who know me as a Business Analyst or that tech guy from Gizzy lol.

From business to technology, career coaching, and investing, there’s so much more that we’re passionate about, and we’re excited to bring you along for the ride.

Welcome to the next chapter the 'Stick to Your Lane' blog,—where we expand our lanes, break boundaries, and make no apologies for doing so.
