Selected locals completed Dev Academy Aotearoa’s full-stack web development bootcamp, with a dedicated remote tutor.
Launched in October 2020 as a passion project to help Tairāwhiti locals — with a focus on Māori — move from low-paid work into higher-value technology careers, trained, employed and growing in the region.
Selected locals completed Dev Academy Aotearoa’s full-stack web development bootcamp, with a dedicated remote tutor.
Students worked together from Taiki E Impact House in Gisborne — a kaupapa Māori space with a dedicated support person.
After graduating, the aim was local employment through a growing network of employer partners.
Tairāwhiti is a primary-industry region with a young and growing population. The incubator set out to build advanced digital skills and create real pathways out of financial hardship.
Many graduates now work across New Zealand’s tech sector.
With thanks to our partners, including Dev Academy Aotearoa, Taiki E, Snapper, Hauora Tairāwhiti, HazardCo, Maanaki Tairāwhiti and TORO Tech.
Successful technology transformation has never been about technology alone.
The programme has concluded, but its graduates, careers and lessons — confidence, capability and opportunity — shape how Next Chapter helps organisations prepare for an AI-enabled future.
Whether you’re exploring AI, building capability, leading change or not sure where to start — I’d love to hear what your next chapter looks like.
